  • My Life in Full: Work, Family, and our Future

    Rs. 3,290.00
    or 3 X Rs.1,096.67 with

    Indra K. Nooyi

    • A New York Times Bestseller

“With candor and good humor, Nooyi has written a wonderful book that brings her story to life, from her early years in India, surrounded by love and high expectations, to her determined efforts to succeed in the corporate world, all the while questioning the tradeoffs she had to make. She reveals just how our society continues to sacrifice talent instead of changing how we organize work to maximize everyone’s potential to live full and productive lives. A must-read for working women and the men who work with us, love us, and support us.” Hillary Rodham Clinton

“We have so much to learn from Nooyi’s remarkable story and wisdom on lifting up girls and women in the decades to come. She shares a great road map for anyone who aspires to merge social change with leading a large organization.” Matt Damon, actor, screenwriter, producer

“‘CEO’ and ‘care’ do not usually go together, but for Indra Nooyi, they always have. Rather than offering us a list of policy prescriptions, she shows us what is possible when businesses care about family and families have time to care for one another.” Anne-Marie Slaughter, CEO of New America, author of Unfinished Business

An intimate and powerful memoir by the trailblazing former CEO of PepsiCo

For a dozen years as one of the world’s most admired CEOs, Indra Nooyi redefined what it means to be an exceptional leader. The first woman of color and immigrant to run a Fortune 50 company — and one of the foremost strategic thinkers of our time — she transformed PepsiCo with a unique vision, a vigorous pursuit of excellence, and a deep sense of purpose. Now, in a rich memoir brimming with grace, grit, and good humor, My Life in Full offers a firsthand view of Nooyi’s legendary career and the sacrifices it so often demanded.

Nooyi takes us through the events that shaped her, from her childhood and early education in 1960s India, to the Yale School of Management, to her rise as a corporate consultant and strategist who soon ascended into the most senior executive ranks. The book offers an inside look at PepsiCo, and Nooyi’s thinking as she steered the iconic American company toward healthier products and reinvented its environmental profile, despite resistance at every turn.

For the first time and in raw detail, Nooyi also lays bare the difficulties that came with managing her demanding job with a growing family, and what she learned along the way. She makes a clear, actionable, urgent call for business and government to prioritize the care ecosystem, paid leave and work flexibility, and a convincing argument for how improving company and community support for young family builders will unleash the economy’s full potential.

Generous, authoritative, and grounded in lived experience, My Life in Full is the story of an extraordinary leader’s life, a moving tribute to the relationships that created it, and a blueprint for 21st century prosperity.

    Allan Pease

    International Bestseller

Decrypting body language has been a fascinating subject for me. There are a number of different ‘theories’ for interpreting our common gestures. Allan Pease’s Body Language is book is a brief, well-organized and easy to understand guide book which contains the basics of non-verbal communication. With everything being explained from a practical standpoint, readers of any understanding of the subject could read the book quite easily. – Tharindu Dissanayake

Many years ago, one of my martial arts instructors made his students read this book. At the end of the lesson he would set a chapter to read before we came back for next week’s lesson. Reading that chapter was not optional, because he would ask each student something about the homework chapter. We thought his fascination with the book was a little strange to begin with, but we quickly learned otherwise. We didn’t know it at the time, but our instructor was teaching us about situational awareness. Reading body language is a big part of situational awareness, and most instructors don’t have time (or the knowledge) to go into the fine details of the subject. This is a great book that everyone should read at least once in their lives, it’s easier to avoid trouble if you can read the moods of the people around you. – Beau Johnston

“Rattling. Heartbreaking. Beautiful.(Atul Gawande, author of BEING MORTAL)

“A vital book about dying. Awe-inspiring and exquisite. Obligatory reading for the living. (Nigella Lawson)

“Paul Kalanithi’s memoir, When Breath Becomes Air… split my head open with its beauty. Truly. Madly. Deeply.” (Cheryl Strayed, author of WILD)

“It turns out not really to be about dying at all but about life and how to live it ― though the closeness of death gives it an urgency and economy… When Breath Becomes Air is a Renaissance book from a Renaissance man. It is a work of philosophy and morality, a reconciliation of science and religion. There is even plot and excitement… It was only with the restrained, elegant epilogue written by his wife Lucy Kalanithi that I found myself weeping helplessly… When Breath Becomes Air tells us what means to live a good life, by giving us a glimpse into an exceptional one.” (Lucy Kellaway Financial Times)

“A tremendous book, crackling with life, animated by wonder and by the question of how we should live. Paul Kalanithi lived and died in the pursuit of excellence, and by this testimonial, he achieved it.” (Gavin Francis, author of Adventures in Human Being)

“When I came to the end of the last flawless paragraph of When Breath Becomes Air, all I could do was turn to the first page and read the whole thing again. Searingly intelligent, beautifully written, and beyond brave, I haven’t been so marked by a book in years.(Gabriel Weston, author of DIRECT RED)

    Anne Frank

In the summer of 1942, thirteen-year-old Anne Frank found herself hiding with her family in the cramped attic of an old office building in Amsterdam. Outside, Jews all over Europe were being thrown into concentration camps.

Exiled from the outside world, the Frankfurt family battled hunger, boredom, confinement, and the ever-looming threat of discovery and death. As the second World War continued to rage, Anne turned to her diary and documented everything. The diary was accidentally discovered in the attic shortly after the family was arrested. In 1947, it was formally published in Dutch.

Since then, Anne Frank’s phenomenal diary has become a world classic, offering a terrifying glimpse of what it was like being a Jew in a war-ridden Europe. Honest, vulnerable, and tragic, Anne Frank’s story serves as a powerful reminder of the horrors of war, and as an eloquent testament to the indestructible nature of human spirit.

An inspirational memoir that also rings true — Gaby Wood ― Daily Telegraph, Five Stars

Obama’s memoir is a genuine page-turner, full of intimacies and reflections. . . Allied to this candour is a steeliness of purpose. It is no exaggeration to say that every page of this book is, explicitly or otherwise, a reproach to Donald Trump, and a call-to-arms to those who would defeat the 45th President and all that he stands for — Matt D’Ancona ― Evening Standard

This is a rich, entertaining and candid memoir. And overall she’s a fun person to sit alongside as she tells you the story of her life, warts and all. . . it is as beautifully written as any piece of fiction, with a similar warm languid tone to Ann Patchett’s novel Commonwealth — Viv Groskop ― i, Five Stars

This revealing memoir offers new insights into her upbringing on the south side of Chicago and the highs and lows of life with Barack Obama. . . Becoming is a 400-page expansion of this essential doctrine [‘when they go low, we go high’], without compromising a refreshing level of honesty about what politics really did to her. I have read Barack Obama’s two books so far, and this is like inserting a missing piece of reality into the narrative of his dizzying journey — Afua Hirsch ― Guardian

I found myself lifting my jaw from my chest at the end of every other chapter, not because of any seedy insight into stories I’d always wondered about, but because, armed as I was with knowledge about her career, her mannerisms, and even her elbow-heavy dancing, this was not the Obama I thought I knew. She was more — Kuba Shand-Baptiste ― Independent

Inspiring. . . After 421 pages of Becoming, I closed the book hoping that one day she would use her formidable intelligence, humanity – and humour – to offer a more tangible vision for how America might fight the rising tides of polarisation and hate ― Financial Times

Open and engaging. . . Obama writes with candour about the good times and bad ― Daily Express

Of course, Becoming is Michelle Obama’s story, of how she moved from a girl on the South Side of Chicago to becoming one of the most powerful women in the world. But in the final pages of the book, Obama writes, “It’s all a process, steps along a path. Becoming requires equal parts patience and rigor.” Here, Obama is pushing us to reckon with our own becomings – to realise our own story and to have the power to tell it ― The Pool

She’s a woman we’ve all fallen in love with because she radiates joy and wisdom, and Becoming encapsulate this perfectly. It’s also deeply honest – reading it makes you feel as though she’s your close friend opening up to you ― Red Online

The Ikigai Journey: A Practical Guide to Finding Happiness and Purpose Japanese Way

    Rs. 2,490.00
    or 3 X Rs.830.00 with

    Hector Garcia & Francesc Miralles

SEQUEL TO IKIGAI: THE JAPANESE SECRET TO A LONG AND HAPPY LIFE

In The Ikigai Journey, authors Hector Garcia and Francesc Miralles take their international bestseller Ikigai: the Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life a step further by showing you how to find your own ikigai through practical exercises, such as employing new habits and stepping outside your comfort zone.

Ikigai is the place where our passion (what we love), mission (what we hope to contribute), vocation (the gifts we have to offer the world) and profession (how our passions and talents can become a livelihood) converge, giving us a personal sense of meaning. This book helps you bring together all of these elements so that you can enjoy a balanced life.

Our ikigai is very similar to change: it is a constant that transforms depending on which phase of life we are in. Our “reason for being” is not the same at 15 as it is at 70. Through three sections, this book helps you to accept and embrace that―acting as a tool to revolutionize your future by helping you to understand the past, so you can enjoy your present.
    * Section 1―Journey Through the Future: Tokyo (a symbol of modernity and innovation)
    * Section 2―Journey Through the Past: Kyoto (an ancient capital moored in tradition)
    * Section 3―Journey Through the Present: Ise (an ancient shrine that is destroyed and rebuilt every twenty years)

Japan has one of the longest life spans in the world, and the greatest number of centenarians―many of whom cite their strong sense of ikigai as the basis for their happiness and longevity. Unlike many “self-care” practices, which require setting aside time in an increasingly busy world, the ikigai method helps you find peace and fulfillment in your busy life.

    Dr Anders Hansen

Anders Hansen’s work is the antidote to our modern-day struggles. ― Dr Rangan Chatterjee

A brilliantly researched book that will transform how you think about happiness. ― Thomas Erikson, author of Surrounded by Idiots

A fascinating exploration of the ways in which our ancient neurologic wiring is mismatched for the modern ecosystem. By understanding depression and anxiety through the lens of evolution, we can make sense of the growing despair in the world today and do something about it. This is a must-read for anyone hoping to understand the human brain. ― Dr. Anna Lembke, New York Times bestselling author of Dopamine Nation

By describing our minds as the products of evolution, Hansen shows invaluable new ways for understanding and living with our most important mental ups and downs. “The Happiness Cure” uses direct and accessible language to present the exciting promise of scientifically informed psychiatry. ― Richard Wrangham, author of The Goodness Paradox

Anders Hansen is our foremost and most accomplished public educator. With his crystal-clear, straightforward prose that never shies away from the difficult questions, he writes about evolution and the brain, and why many of us are left feeling so bad. Brilliant, I think. And very informative ― David Lagercrantz

As a species, we’ve never had it so good. We’re living longer and healthier lives than ever before; the sum of human knowledge and endless entertainment are only ever a few clicks away.

So why are we in the midst of a mental health crisis?

The Happiness Cure offers a radical new way to think about fulfillment. Blending neuroscientific research and empirical breakthroughs with stories of ordinary individuals, leading psychiatrist and viral TedX speaker Dr Anders Hansen reveals that by adopting an evolutionary take on life, we can re-set our perspective on happiness to find longer-term meaning and lasting contentment.
