Richard Dawkins

“The Selfish Gene” is a bestselling book by evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins. First published in 1976, the book presents a revolutionary view of evolution, focusing on the gene rather than the individual organism. Dawkins argues that genes are the primary unit of selection in evolution and that organisms are simply vehicles for their replication. This perspective, known as “gene’s eye view,” has had a profound impact on the field of evolutionary biology and has become a classic in its own right. The book has sold over a million copies worldwide and has been translated into more than 25 languages. This 40th-anniversary edition includes a new epilogue from the author discussing the continued relevance of these ideas in modern biology, making it a must-read for anyone interested in the field of evolutionary biology.
