The more we learn about fungi, the less makes sense without them.
Neither plant nor animal, they are found throughout the earth, the air, and our bodies. They can be microscopic, yet also account for the largest organisms ever recorded. They enabled the first life on land, can survive unprotected in space, and thrive amidst nuclear radiation. In fact, nearly all life relies in some way on fungi.
These endlessly surprising organisms have no brain but can solve problems and manipulate animal behavior with devastating precision. In giving us bread, alcohol, and life-saving medicines, fungi have shaped human history, and their psychedelic properties have recently been shown to alleviate a number of mental illnesses. Their ability to digest plastic, explosives, pesticides and crude oil is being harnessed in breakthrough technologies, and the discovery that they connect plants in underground networks, the ‘Wood Wide Web’, is transforming the way we understand ecosystems. Yet over ninety percent of their species remain undocumented.
Entangled Life is a mind-altering journey into a spectacular and neglected world, and shows that fungi provide a key to understanding both the planet on which we live and life itself.

“The cardiologist Sandeep Jauhar has become a Dante of modern medicine, with his earlier memoirs, “Intern” (2008) and “Doctored” (2014), casting the progress from training to career as a path studded with suffering, indignity and ethical hazard. His latest book, “Heart: A History,” is something of a “Paradiso,” pointing to the field’s brightest and noblest stars while recognizing just how much darkness is still left in the firmament . . . Poignant and chattily erudite.” ―Laura Kolbe, The Wall Street Journal
“Sandeep Jauhar, a New York cardiologist and the author of two medical memoirs, has written a book of unusual depth and richness about a subject that concerns us all . . . Heart: A History is elegantly conceived and still more elegantly executed, with a narrative that flits effortlessly between medieval Persia and contemporary America, medical scholarship and personal anecdote . . . Jauhar writes with a vital, pulsating energy.” ―Thomas Morris, The Times Literary Supplement
“[Sandeep Jauhar’s] gripping new book, Heart a History, had me nearly as enthralled with this pulsating body part as [Jauhar] seems to be. The tone―a physician excited about his specialty―takes a sharp turn from his first two memoirs . . . Jauhar hooks the reader of Heart from the first few pages.” ―Randi Hutter Epstein, The New York Times Book Review
“This is both a history of surgical interventions to heal the heart, and a personal meditation on illness, family, loss, and living. [Jauhar], who has lost several family members to heart disease, takes time to examine both the work of doctors trying to fix hearts and the lives of people living with heart disease, for a book that is touching and ultimately, hopeful.” ―Los Angeles Public Library, “Best of 2018”

Brain Wash: Detox Your Mind for Clearer Thinking, Deeper Relationships and Lasting Happiness
Rs. 2,990.00or 3 X Rs.996.67 withRead moreDavid Perlmutter, Austin Perlmutter, Kristin Loberg
By showing us how to consciously rewire our brains for connection, compassion, and better decisions, Brain Wash provides a framework for reclaiming joy and health in the modern world. ― Deepak Chopra, author of Metahuman
‘Brain Wash reveals how our day-to-day decisions are deeply influenced and actively manipulated by the modern world. But more importantly, it is a powerful manual that allows each of us to reclaim control of our choices and make better decisions that will pave the way for health and happiness. While we generally know what’s best for ourselves, acting on this knowledge is a constant struggle. Brain Wash allows us to turn this knowledge into action. I highly recommend this innovative book.’ ― Daniel G. Amen, MD, founder, Amen Clinics and author of The End of Mental Illness
‘In a world where most of us are feeling rushed, tired, and burned out, Brain Wash reveals how even small changes in your lifestyle choices can dramatically improve your day, your mood, and even your life.’ ― Melissa Hartwig Urban, Whole30 Co-Founder and CEO
‘This book was a total surprise. A father and son representing entirely different generations arrive at the same conclusion: that wellness fosters connection and this creates a meaningful life. Beautifully scripted and a bit like an adventure story, I kept wanting to get to the ‘final message’ of how being well makes us more loving and lovable. This is the endpoint where well-being takes us, and this is especially critical in our disconnected digital age with its constant distractions. Do yourself a favor and get this book.’ ― ohn Ratey, MD, author of Spark
‘Inflammation, enhanced by so many influences of our modern world, dramatically reduces our ability to make good decisions and feel content. Brain Wash not only explores how this is happening, on a global scale, but also shows what we can do right now to take back control. From spending time in nature to choosing to consume one plant-based meal a day, Brain Wash provides the tools to reclaim and rebuild your brain’s ability to make better choices and allow health and happiness to flourish.’ ― Mark Hyman, MD, New York Times bestselling author of Food and director of the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine
Brain Wash provides the tools for each of us to live a happier, more contented life. Drs. David and Austin Perlmutter engage our most current understanding of neuroscience to reveal how the brain can be functionally reconfigured to distance ourselves from pervasive negativity and welcome empathy and compassion back into our lives. The choices we make each day in terms of what we eat, how well we sleep, and even how we interact with our digital world all contribute to our worldview. And central to the Brain Wash mission is maximizing these and other choices towards seeing and creating a better world. ― Dr. Rudolph Tanzi, Professor of Neurology, Harvard Medical School, and author of The Healing Self

‘Who would have thought something as simple as changing the way we breathe could be so revolutionary for our health, from snoring to allergies to immunity? A fascinating book, full of dazzling revelations’ –Dr. Rangan Chatterjee
‘In the past few years, there have been several potentially life-changing books, from Matthew Walker’s Why We Sleep and Shane O’Mara’s In Praise of Walking, to Norman Doidge’s The Brain’s Way of Healing. Breath deserves a place alongside such volumes. Read it, and I guarantee you will want to change the way you breathe’ — Evening Standard
A fascinating scientific, cultural, spiritual and evolutionary history of the way humans breathe – and how we’ve all been doing it wrong for a long, long time. I already feel calmer and healthier just in the last few days, from making a few simple changes in my breathing, based on what I’ve read. Our breath is a beautiful, healing, mysterious gift, and so is this book — Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love
‘If you want to read a book about the power of the breath, this is it!’ — Patrick McKeown, author of The Oxygen Advantage
‘A transformative book that changes how you think about your body and mind’ — Joshua Foer, author of Moonwalking with Einstein
‘I don’t say this often, but when I do I mean it: this book changed my life. Breath is part scientific quest, part historical insight, part Hero’s Journey, full of groundbreaking ideas, and a rollicking good read. I had no idea that the simple and intuitive act of inhaling and exhaling has taken such an evolutionary hit. As a result, I figured out why I sleep so badly and why my breathing feels so often out-of-sync. With a few simple tweaks, I fixed my breathing and fixed myself. A transformational book’ — Caroline Paul, author of The Gutsy Girl

Super Genes: The Hidden Key to Total Well-Being

“The concept that biology is destiny is one of the most pathological and toxic exaggerations to emerge during the entire scientific era. This hard-core materialistic view has been a kind of psychological enslavement that has pushed many people into nihilism and despair. In Super Genes, Drs. Deepak Chopra and Rudolph E. Tanzi discuss new evidence that our genes are not our masters, but they respond in large measure to our choices and behaviors. The resulting view honors not just the body but mind and spirit as well—a vision that is as bright and hopeful as the old view was morbid and depressing. Super Genes is an important book. It will empower anyone who reads it, because it expands our view of what it means to be human.”
–Larry Dossey, MD, author of One Mind: How Our Individual Mind Is Part of a Greater Consciousness and Why It Matters“In Super Genes, Drs. Deepak Chopra and Rudolph Tanzi illustrate the interplay of nature and nurture using cutting edge genetic science and argue persuasively that adapting one’s lifestyle can maximize the potential to transcend the inherited susceptibilities handed down to us from our parents.”
–James Gusella, Ph.D., Director, Center for Human Genetic Research Harvard Medical School“Once thought to be the domain of genes, the control of health and behavior is now dynamically linked to the environment, and more importantly, our perception of the environment. Super Genes, by Deepak Chopra and Rudy Tanzi, is a paradigm-shattering synthesis of epigenetic science that offers an easy-to-understand explanation of the mechanisms by which consciousness and environment control our genetic activity. Drs. Chopra and Tanzi’s contribution is a valuable resource that empowers us to become the masters of our fate rather than the ‘victims’ of our heredity.”
–Bruce H. Lipton, Ph.D., Epigenetic scientist and bestselling author of The Biology of Belief, Spontaneous Evolution and The Honeymoon Effect“The concept that biology is destiny is one of the most pathological and toxic exaggerations to emerge during the entire scientific era. This hard-core materialistic view has been a kind of psychological enslavement that has pushed many people into nihilism and despair. In Super Genes, Drs. Deepak Chopra and Rudolph E. It will empower anyone who reads it, because it expands our view of what it means to be human.”
–Larry Dossey, MD, author of One Mind: How Our Individual Mind Is Part of a Greater Consciousness and Why It Matters“We used to think everything about us was either our genetics or our environment. But in Super Genes, Deepak Chopra and Rudi Tanzi adeptly teach us that it’s all about both—how tightly they are intertwined. And what we can do about it.”
–Eric Topol, MD, author The Patient Will See You Now, Professor of Genomics, The Scripps Research Institute“Flawlessly weaving together the complicated science of genetics with the touching stories of very real people, my friends Deepak and Rudolph have written a book that you won’t put down. You will find yourself scribbling furious notes, and sharing your new wisdom with the people you love. First they gave us all the ability to have Super Brains, and now they have done the same with our Super Genes.”
–Sanjay Gupta, MD, Neurosurgeon and author of Chasing Life, Cheating Death and Monday Mornings“Our genes are a predisposition, but they are not our fate. The biological mechanisms that affect our health and well-being are often extraordinarily dynamic—for better and for worse. When we eat well, move more, stress less, and love more, our bodies often have a remarkable ability to transform and heal. Super Genes is a superb contribution to our growing knowledge that mind, brain, genome, and microbiome can act as a single system. Drs. Chopra and Tanzi continue to make pioneering contributions that are bringing integrative medicine into the mainstream. Highly recommended!”

How to Avoid a Climate Disaster: The Solutions We Have and the Breakthroughs We Need
Rs. 2,990.00Original price was: Rs. 2,990.00.Rs. 2,590.00Current price is: Rs. 2,590.00.or 3 X Rs.863.33 withRead moreBill Gates
“I wrote this book because I don’t just see the problem of climate change; I also see the opportunity to solve it” – Bill Gates
Gates’ book is compulsively readable. His ambition was to ‘cut through the noise’ and give consumers better tools for understanding what works, an ambition he meets admirably. It more than that, however. Gates can get an audience with anyone, can marshal almost limitless resources, and is dogged in the detail. The result – particularly in the wake of the Trump presidency – is thrilling — Emma Brockes ― The Guardian
Of the many books I have come across recently making the case that climate change will be a catastrophe, but we can do something about it, this is the best … The relentless practicality of the book combined with Gates’s firm faith in innovation do not promote despair. He exudes optimism; things will get better, not least because, as John Lennon once sang, they can’t get no worse — Bryan Appleyard ― Sunday Times
It is mostly concerned with solutions rather than problems. This already marks it out as something of an outlier within environmental literature… if you’re after an approachable book about what needs to happen next, this is a great place to start — Ed Conway ― The Times
Bold but well argued … a compelling explanation of how the world can stop global warming by reducing greenhouse gas emissions effectively to zero… [Gates] is a serious and genuine force for good on climate change — Bob Ward ― Observer
How to Avoid a Climate Disaster is clear, concise on a colossal subject, and intelligently holistic in its approach to the problem. — Adam Vaughan ― New Scientist
It all makes for a meaty manifesto which Gates hopes can offer sufficient variety to appeal across political divides and “shift the conversation” away from the polarisation and misinformation that has clouded discussion about climate change up until now. — Martin Bentham ― Evening Standard
Gates’s carefully packaged nuggets of information are not only easy to understand, but they aim to provide the reader with practical tools to engage with the density of climate change information … What Gates has achieved with his book is something rare in the swelling arena of popular climate literature. The Microsoft co-founder turned philanthropist has compiled a solutions-based strategy that is as informed on the commercial realities of scaling new technologies as it is on the environmental consequences of not doing so. — Daniel Murray ― The Business Post
The most refreshing aspect of this book is its bracing mix of cold-eyed realism and number-crunched optimism … Ultimately [Gates’s] book is a primer on how to reorganise the global economy so that innovation focuses on the world’s gravest problems. It is a powerful reminder that if mankind is to get serious about tackling them, it must do more to harness the one natural resource available in infinite quantity-human ingenuity. ― Economist
Gates plots out, in patient, simple prose, a pathway that would allow us to reduce carbon emissions from the current 51 billion tonnes a year to zero by 2050. — Thomas Jones ― London Review of Books

“Spellbinding… This is a very intelligent book, full of sharp insights and mordant wit… It is a quirky and cool book, with a sliver of ice at its heart… It is hard to imagine anyone could read this book without getting an occasional, vertiginous thrill.” — Guardian
“Harari is an intellectual magpie who has plucked theories and data from many disciplines – including philosophy, theology, computer science and biology – to produce a brilliantly original, thought-provoking and important study of where mankind is heading.” — Evening Standard (London)
