Dr Anders Hansen
Anders Hansen’s work is the antidote to our modern-day struggles. ― Dr Rangan Chatterjee
A brilliantly researched book that will transform how you think about happiness. ― Thomas Erikson, author of Surrounded by Idiots
A fascinating exploration of the ways in which our ancient neurologic wiring is mismatched for the modern ecosystem. By understanding depression and anxiety through the lens of evolution, we can make sense of the growing despair in the world today and do something about it. This is a must-read for anyone hoping to understand the human brain. ― Dr. Anna Lembke, New York Times bestselling author of Dopamine Nation
By describing our minds as the products of evolution, Hansen shows invaluable new ways for understanding and living with our most important mental ups and downs. “The Happiness Cure” uses direct and accessible language to present the exciting promise of scientifically informed psychiatry. ― Richard Wrangham, author of The Goodness Paradox
Anders Hansen is our foremost and most accomplished public educator. With his crystal-clear, straightforward prose that never shies away from the difficult questions, he writes about evolution and the brain, and why many of us are left feeling so bad. Brilliant, I think. And very informative ― David Lagercrantz
As a species, we’ve never had it so good. We’re living longer and healthier lives than ever before; the sum of human knowledge and endless entertainment are only ever a few clicks away.
So why are we in the midst of a mental health crisis?
The Happiness Cure offers a radical new way to think about fulfillment. Blending neuroscientific research and empirical breakthroughs with stories of ordinary individuals, leading psychiatrist and viral TedX speaker Dr Anders Hansen reveals that by adopting an evolutionary take on life, we can re-set our perspective on happiness to find longer-term meaning and lasting contentment.

“Jonah Berger knows more about what makes information ‘go viral’ than anyone in the world.” —Daniel Gilbert, author of the bestseller Stumbling on Happiness
“Jonah Berger is as creative and thoughtful as he is spunky and playful. Looking at his research, much like studying a masterpiece in a museum, provides the observer with new insights about life and also makes one aware of the creator’s ingenuity and creativity. It is hard to come up with a better example of using social science to illuminate the ordinary and extraordinary in our daily lives.” — Dan Ariely, James B. Duke professor of psychology and behavioral economics at Duke University and bestselling author of Predictably Irrational

“If you are seeking a bigger impact, especially with a smaller budget, you need this book. Contagious will show you how to make your product spread like crazy.” — Chip Heath, co-author of Made to Stick and Decisive“Jonah Berger is the rare sort who has studied the facts, parsed it from the fiction—and performed groundbreaking experiments that have changed the way the experts think. If there’s one book you’re going to read this year on how ideas spread, it’s this one.” — Dave Balter, CEO of BzzAgent and Co-founder of the Word of Mouth Marketing Association

If there were a ‘like’ button underneath it, you’d probably find yourself clicking it.” — Maija Palmer ― Los Angeles Times“An infectious treatise on viral marketing. . . . Berger writes in a sprightly, charming style that deftly delineates the intersection of cognitive psychology and social behavior with an eye toward helping businesspeople and others spread their messages. The result is a useful and entertaining primer that diagnoses countless baffling pop culture epidemics.” ― Publishers Weekly
“A provocative shift in focus from the technology of online transmission to the human element and a bold claim to explain ‘how word of mouth and social influence work . . . [to] make any product or idea contagious.” ― Kirkus Reviews
